{"id":251,"date":"2014-11-17T15:08:49","date_gmt":"2014-11-17T15:08:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/?p=251"},"modified":"2014-11-17T15:08:49","modified_gmt":"2014-11-17T15:08:49","slug":"gift-lexia-no-blame-or-shame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/?p=251","title":{"rendered":"Gift-Lexia: no blame or shame"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/jesus-healing-blind-man.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-252\" src=\"https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/jesus-healing-blind-man.jpg\" alt=\"jesus-healing-blind-man\" width=\"236\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/jesus-healing-blind-man.jpg 236w, https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/jesus-healing-blind-man-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/gordonsmind.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/jesus-healing-blind-man-50x50.jpg 50w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 236px) 100vw, 236px\" \/><\/a>John 9: 1-3<\/p>\n<p>1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.<\/p>\n<p>2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?<\/p>\n<p>3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.<\/p>\n<p>I was recently discussing with a couple about there young boy and how he was learning to speak much slower than his younger brother.\u00a0 My wife, who is now a tutor for dyslexic students,\u00a0 observed his symptoms for dyslexia.\u00a0 I mentioned to the couple that dyslexia is inherited and its helpful for a child to learn than he is one of many, and some may benefit from a special connection with a dyslexic family member.\u00a0 The father took offense and said, &#8220;we don&#8217;t want to have parents blaming each other over the child&#8217;s situation&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>I remembered how hard it was for me to accept my dyslexia as an adult with lots of children.\u00a0 I still had a tendency to look good with my family and hide my insecurities about my communication nuances and\u00a0occasional pronunciation errors.\u00a0Emotionally, it was easier for me to say audio-processing disorder than the &#8220;D&#8221; word.\u00a0 That was before I learned what my condition was and all the positive abilities and sensitivities that came with my condition.<\/p>\n<p>I was the one that carried the dyslexia gene into my current family.\u00a0 My wife has ADHD so some of our children our dyslexic and one is ADHD.\u00a0 All are very smart.\u00a0I was the one that some might say was responsible for two sons being dyslexic.\u00a0 In my previous marriage,\u00a0 both parents are dyslexics.\u00a0 All those children have symptoms of dyslexia. The older children have careers in music, gymnastics, culinary arts, and audio\/video.\u00a0 My younger boys from my second marriage look to be\u00a0preparing for\u00a0automotive and artistic careers.
